Trek to Tamang Heritage Trail

Trail trekking is situated at Rasuwa District the north from Kathmandu nearby Tibetan border of Nepal and Langtag Region. It is newly opened Trekking trail which provides camping and homestay facilities. Mostly people of this region are Tebetans. In the ealrlier days they came from Tibet and they changed their ethnicity in Tamang in order to get Nepali citizenship.  It is very famous itself by their tropical culture of lacal people, beautiful architecture of their own mountain houses ancient monasteries.  Specially, tamang heritage trail offer memoriable experience through amazing landscapes of alpine and hot spring.Tamang ritual, Tibetan traditional culture, festival and local Syabaru dance makes this heritage trek is very popular and unique. There is a beautiful view point at nagthali pass from where you will be seen the Langtang Himalayan range and kerung(Tibet).

Trekking Itinerary

Day 01 : Kathmandu arrival
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital city of the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. You will be met on airport and transferred to your hotel. After the arrival, the group will be formally introduced to Guide for the activities over the next few days. One should pay attention in particular to the safety aspects of the briefing. Any questions or doubts should be asked and clarified at this time. We check your insurance details and other requirement for your trekking.

Day 02 : Kathmandu sightseeing.
After breakfast, we start an interesting tour around Kathmandu. Escorting by an English speaking guide (can be provide any language speaking guide on request) be, try to give them a full taste of our vivid culture image and an enchanting manner of its people. In our sightseeing tour we go to Monkey temple Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar square.

Durbar Square: -This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, used to be the seat of the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. An intriguing piece here is the 17th century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. The Durbar square, protected as an UNESCO world Heritage site, is the social, religious and urban focal point of the city. There are also museums inside the palace building. There is an entrance fee of Rs.250 for foreign visitors. Your ticket to the Square entitles you to visit all the museums.

Swayambhunath, 6.5 kilometers west of Kathmandu, situated on a hillock, this 2000 years old Stupa is the world’s most glorious Buddhist shrine and is surrounded by several small pagodas. The main temple is capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt and is painted on the four sides with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha.

Pashupatinath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the holiest and most famous Nepalese temple. Situated 5 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, it is an impressive pagoda style structure with gilt roof and richly carved silver doors. It has bathing and cremation ghats, which are of absorbing interest to the tourist, particularly in the mornings and on festival days.

Day 03 : Kathmandu –Syabrubesi (1467m)
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1467 m.) via Trishuli (Nuwakot) which takes about eight hours. You stay overnight at hotel in Syabrubesi. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli river you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road after Betrawati is still under construction.

Day 04 : Syabrubesi –gatlang(2238m)
Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m.) via Goljung and it takes about six hours. While trekking you experience of the Tamang culture. You can see scenery from view point. This day you walk through village. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking a memorable one. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang.

Day 05 : Gatlang- Tatopani(2607m)
Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m.) and it takes about three hours. On the way you enjoy sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. At Tatopani which naturally signifies ‘hot water’, you can take hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. It is believed that taking a dip into this spring would heal you from your aches and pains. This day’s trekking provides you an opportunity to experience of the Tamang culture.

Day 06 : Tatopani to Thuman(2338m)
Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2338m.) via Nagthali (3165m.) and it takes about five hours. You trek via Bimthang. En route you can encounter animals like monkeys and deer. The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges can be distinctly experienced from Nagthali. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. Another cultural village Thuman is popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. Beautiful view of the mountains can be seen from every house in Thuman.

Day 07 : Thuman –Briddim(2229m)
Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2229m.) via Lingling which takes about five hours. This day you can observe Tibeto Burman Tamang culture on the way. You can experience village life of Briddim. Moreover you can enjoy cultural show on your request performed by Pema Homestay. You can also experience of home stay and Tamang culture. To mention about Briddim is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. Around 43 houses are spread in Z shape. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of splitshake. As direct descendant of ancient Tibean immigrants, the culture and tradition of Briddim closely resembles that of nearly Tibetan villages.

Day 08 : Briddim –Syabrubesi(1467m)
Trek from Briddim to Syabrubesi (1467m.) and it takes about three hours. The upper part of the trail is more beautiful for the panoramic view of jungle view and green hill views. This path is broader and remains sunny through the different Sherpa and Tamang villages. The first half part of the trail is gradually down and then the trail does steeply descent to the Syabru Besi (1600m.). There was run a project called Chilime Power Plant. The main inhabitants belong to Tamang community and they have adopted Tibetan lifestyle.

Day 09 : Syabrubesi –Kathmandu
Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu and it takes about eight hours. It is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu with splendid views of hills, mountains, terraces and villages. You drive along the unpaved road till Betrawati and you begin to follow narrow well paved road.

Day 10 : Kathmandu free day of your own.
This is the free day and you can use it for your shopping .In the evening we will drive you for farewell dinner with cultural dance.

Day 11 : Final Departure.
All too soon it’s time to bid Nepal farewell and one realizes that we can never be intimate, only acquainted with this amazing adventure kingdom

Price US $ 693 per person for a group of 2 to 4 pax,US $ 660 per person for a group of 5 to 8 pax,US $ 627 per person for a group of 8 to 12 pax,US $ 627 per person for a group of above 13 + the Group leader complementary.

 

Services: trek permits/TIMS, 1 guide and porters as necessary (each 3 members will be provided 1 porter, so 3:1 basis), all road transportation as said above, 3 (breakfast, lunch and dinner) meals everyday with hot drinks, lodge accommodation, etc.

Extra: hotel/meals/sightseeing if any when you are in Kathmandu, medicine and medical assistance by professional/expertise if any while on trek, any trek extended expenses.
